I was featured in an article on simplemost.com, a popular women’s website, published today entitled “You Don’t Always Need Antibiotics For That Sinus InfectionYou Don’t Always Need Antibiotics For That Sinus Infection.” In general, most people with sinusitis or a sinus infection don’t need antibiotics because the most common cause is a virus.  Viruses don’t respond to antibiotics.  There are many things you can do to relieve symptoms without taking an antibiotic.  These include oral decongestants, oral antihistamines, and nasal saline.  Signs that you may need an antibiotic include symptoms lasting for more than 10 days, high fever, facial pain, and symptoms that get better but then get worse.
